HR Generalist | Columbia, MD

Quick Servant is seeking an experienced, hands-on HR Generalist to support their team in Columbia, Maryland. This onsite role is responsible for managing a wide range of human resources functions, including employee relations, onboarding, payroll administration, benefits coordination, compliance, workers' compensation, fleet administration, and HR process improvement.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment supporting both office and field employees. This position serves as a trusted resource for employees and managers and plays a key role in maintaining a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day HR operations, including employee onboarding, offboarding, personnel records, compliance, and HR program administration
  • Coordinate all payroll and employee-related changes, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, deductions, garnishments, child support orders, and employee status updates
  • Maintain accurate and confidential HR, payroll, benefits, workers' compensation, and fleet records in compliance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Partner with third-party payroll, benefits, and retirement plan administrators to ensure the effective administration of employee programs.
  • Administer employee benefits and retirement programs, including enrollments, contribution changes, loan requests, withdrawals, and employee communications
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, policies, and HR matters, partnering with internal teams and third parties
  • Support employee relations efforts by providing guidance to employees and managers, helping maintain a positive and productive work environment
  • Manage workers' compensation claims from initial reporting through resolution, including documentation, communication with insurance carriers, and employee follow-up
  • Oversee fleet administration activities, including vehicle registrations, license plates, insurance documentation, and citation management, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records
  • Provide operational support to field technicians, including coordination of uniforms, identification cards, and other required resources.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and the overall employee experience.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources experience in a Generalist or related HR role
  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and employee relations
  • Experience supporting payroll, benefits, and leave administration
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience with ADP payroll systems
  • Experience supporting employees in a service, construction, manufacturing, or skilled trades environment

Compensation:
The anticipated salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $80,000. Salary will be determined based on experience, education, and other factors.
