We are seeking a Director of Project Engineering to join our team, reporting to the Vice President of Development Engineering. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineering professional with a passion for renewable energy and a creative, entrepreneurial mindset to design innovative solutions for our clients. This position is fully remote. Qualified applicants in the New York Metro Area or New Jersey are preferred. The company will consider remote applicants within the United States.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Serve as a player-coach, contributing directly to development design and engineering of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and cleantech projects as well as managing third-   partyconsulting engineers
•    Oversee contracted engineering firms as the “Owner’s engineer”
•    Collaborate with the Vice President of Development Engineering to maintain all technical requirements for design and commissioning
•    Enforce and help establish design and engineering equipment and construction standards
•    Collaborate with development and finance to assess potential projects’ feasibility and construction complexity
•    Oversee full project life cycle and work with engineering partners to develop preliminary engineering plans
•    Guide and train project engineers
•    Work with EPC’s and third-party engineers to develop final engineering plans to internal standards
•    Serve as technical expert on solar technology and electrical equipment, focusing on rooftop, ground-mounted fixed-tilt and single-axis tracker systems
•    Review project deliverables to ensure all local and national code, utility interconnection requirements, and client requests are met, along with SOW items per contract
•    Conduct, coordinate, and review energy production estimates using PVsyst and Helioscope
•    Travel for work up to 30% as needed and depending on base location

You Bring:
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; master’s degree preferred
•    At least 7 years of energy system design experience and 5+ years designing C&I Rooftop Solar systems and small (1-10MW) ground-mount systems
•    Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in electrical, mechanical, or civil 
•    Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), and familiarity with structural, civil, and environmental considerations relevant to development of commercial solar projects
•    Experience with energy efficiency, CHP, fuel cells, or other carbon reduction technologies preferred
•    Experience managing a large portfolio of projects while prioritizing effectively, managing competing expectations, and meeting deadlines
•    Experienced with PV design tools including Helioscope, PVsyst, and AutoCAD
•    Proficient with Procore, project management, energy modeling, and MS office tools
•    A creative and entrepreneurial approach to solving energy/carbon use optimization problems
•    Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with a commitment to responsiveness and follow-through
