, ,Our client, Trail Ridge Power (TRP), works with national commercial and industrial real estate partners to create portfolio-wide energy transition solutions for their sustainability needs. They originate, design, develop, finance, own and operate renewable energy assets on a stand-alone basis but also in conjunction with energy efficiency technologies to help their partners reach net-zero-carbon goals. These assets include solar generation, battery storage, fuel cells, building controls, and other cleantech offerings to provide on-premises or local generation solutions as well as load control and curtailment. At Trail Ridge Power, the future of renewables is not just rooftop solar but looking at generation and consumption as inherently interconnected.
The Project Manager plays a crucial role in managing and overseeing multiple aspects of our energy projects. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Project Manager, this leadership position requires a professional with experience in construction management, engineering, procurement, and vendor relations within the renewable energy industry. The Project Manager will play a crucial role in driving all renewable energy projects forward, ensuring success through effective leadership, collaboration with cross-functional teams (finance, development, construction, and asset management), and management of external stakeholders (EPCs, supply chain, OEMs, suppliers, contractors, etc.)
The company will consider remote applicants within the United States however, applicants in Boulder, CO are preferred.
You Will:
- Establish and maintain relationships with leading Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) companies in the renewable energy and energy efficiency markets, as well as suppliers, to build trust, and foster long-term partnerships
- Utilize market data to negotiate contracts and terms with EPCs and other service providers that optimize pricing
- Support the completion of preliminary engineering specifications of construction and supply contracts for assigned projects
- Participate in the review and approval of vendors and suppliers
- Support Finance team with due diligence, site visits, and project economic models
- Prepare EPC agreements and related exhibits, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual requirements, with a primary focus on ensuring that developed contracts are fair, consistent, and aligned with the company’s best interests
- Conduct technical and commercial negotiations with EPC contractors to achieve favorable project outcomes that meet quality standards, cost objectives, and project timelines
- Collaborate with project teams to develop and review renewable energy and energy efficiency EPC contracts, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Identify potential risks in contracts and develop strategies to mitigate them. Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for risk reduction
- Work closely with finance and project execution teams to develop project contract budgets, forecasts, and cost-saving initiatives. Monitor expenses, track contracting and procurement metrics, and implement cost-control measures to ensure projects remain within budgetary constraints
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all contracts, amendments, and related correspondence
- Promote safety at all job sites and set an exemplary example when visits sites
- Identify, prepare and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Travel requirement to jobs sites, up to 50% of time
- Complete assigned duties as required
You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- A minimum of 4 to 8 years of project management experience specific to commercial and rooftop solar is required
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, industry standards, and best practices related to commercial and industrial projects
- Strong drafting and contract review skills, with experience in preparing EPC agreements and related exhibits
- An ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Experience in project execution management, particularly in the renewable energy field
- Demonstrate negotiation skills with the ability to drive favorable outcomes in technical and commercial discussions
- Familiarity with the renewable energy market and established relationships with leading technology providers and contractors
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations
- Proficiency in procurement software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, Procore, and Microsoft Office Suite
